BOONE, Iowa - Iowa hunters are awaiting the arrival of dove hunting season.
Upland Wildlife Research Biologist for the Iowa Department of Natural Resources Todd Bogenschutz told KXCV/KRNW that he expects a good dove hunting season, but recommends hunters to do some preseason scouting to see if the sunflower planting was successful in dove use or damaged due to hail storms.
The season begins September 1 and lasts until November 29 with shooting hours one half hour before sunrise to sunset.
The daily bag limit is 15 with a possession limit of 30. Guns must be plugged to hold no more than three shells. For more information, visit iowadnr.gov/doves.
