DES MOINES, Iowa - The Iowa Department of Natural Resources says drought conditions are impacting the state's shallow lakes and wetlands.
A press release says in southwest Iowa, the pumps have been running at Riverton Wildlife Area near Sidney, but it will take time for water to reach the main boat ramp because of the drought.
As for other marshes in the southwest area, DNR officials say they are completely dry, even the wetlands near the Missouri River. A report on wetland habitat conditions will be released on the DNR website tomorrow.
