MDA: New tick spotted in MO

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - A tick species found in the U.S. back in 2017 has now made it's way to the Show-Me State. The Missouri Department of Agriculture confirmed that an Asian longhorned ticket was found in Greene County.

Unlike other ticks, this one can produce as many as 1,000 offspring at a time without mating. That means animals could be carrying thousands of these ticks.

The MDA encourages people to keep grass and weeds trimmed and for farmers to check their livestock regularly for ticks.
