WILCOX, Mo. - The Missouri State Highway Patrol has identified the victim of a two-vehicle wreck in Nodaway County. The Patrol says 68-year-old David Cruth of Clearmont wrecked on U.S. Highway 71, south of 224th Street at 8:47 a.m. last Friday.
Authorities say Cruth was driving a 1995 Chevy Truck with 43-year-old passenger Neil Hacker of Elmo when the Chevy attempted to avoid a dumptruck, driven by 22-year-old Kelton Emery of Maryville, that was stopped in the intersection.
The Chevy began to skid, struck the dumptruck, and ran off the roadway. Cruth and Emery were transported to Mosaic in Maryville and Hacker was transported to Mosaic in St. Joseph.
Cruth died, Hacker had serious injuries, and Emery had minor injuries. Emery was wearing a seatbelt, Cruth was not, and it is unknown if Hacker was wearing a seatbelt.
