ST. JOSEPH, Mo. - Agricultural experts are warning of a reoccurring pest found near the Northwest Missouri region.
Soybean gall midge, which infests the base of soybean plants, was found in Holt and Atchison counties, and could possibly spread to more areas in the Missouri River Valley in the coming years.
Field Specialist in Agronomy with the University of Missouri Extension's Office Wayne Flanary adds that damage from these pests has been light in the past years, but still hopes that the pest won't establish itself and cause more extreme damage to soybean plants.
