DES MOINES, Iowa - Humans have had their pandemic this year, but now the Iowa Department of Natural Resources is warning of a deadly virus for our floppy-eared friends.
RHDV2, a disease that had an initial outbreak in March of 2020, has now been confirmed in domestic rabbits in Minnesota and South Dakota, and wild rabbits in Colorado and Texas.
State Wildlife Veterinarian for the Iowa DNR Dr. Rachel Ruden says no cases have been reported in Iowa so far, however...
Ruden says to get into contact with state wildlife officials if you see anything suspicious in wild or domestic rabbits.
