Woman seriously injured in Buchanan County wreck

hospital room

RUSHVILLE, Mo. - The Missouri State Highway Patrol says a woman was seriously injured after a single-vehicle crash in Buchanan County over the weekend.

The Patrol says 76-year-old Joyce Newton, of Rushville, crashed on Route M, three miles south of Rushville at 11:26  a.m. Saturday.

Authorities say Newton was driving a 2021 Kia Sedona that was eastbound on Blakley Turpin Road and came up to a "T" intersection.

The stop sign was damaged and not visible, so the Kia drove through the intersection and off the roadway and struck a ditch. Newton, who was wearing a seatbelt, was taken to Mosaic Life Care in Saint Joseph with serious injuries.
