RUSH TOWNSHIP, Mo. - Nine people are injured, including seven teens, after a two-vehicle crash in Buchanan County this week.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol says 50-year-old Matthew Peltzer of Rushville was driving a 1994 GMC Sierra on 59 Highway, two miles east of Atchison at 7:10 p.m. Tuesday.
The Patrol says Peltzer was following a 2001 Dodge Ram Van, being driven by 40-year-old Andrew Johnson of Rushville, too closely when the bumpers collided.
The GMC slid while the Dodge traveled off the road. Peltzer, Johnson, a 15-year-old girl, a 13-year-old girl and a 12-year-old girl were taken to Mosaic Life Care with serious injuries. Everyone else suffered moderate injuries.
The drivers were both wearing their seatbelts, but only two out of the seven teens were wearing their seatbelts.
