Iowa not as charitable as other states

WASHINGTON - In the season of giving, one state in our listening area doesn't appear to be in the holiday spirit.

According to the financial website WalletHub, Iowa is one of the least charitable states in the country, ranking 42nd out of 50 states. On that same list, Kansas ranked 36th, Missouri ranked 29th and Nebraska ranked 28th.

WalletHub looked at several metrics, including the share of the population that volunteers or donates, and the amount of items or money people donate. The most charitable state was Utah while the least charitable state was New Mexico.
