MSHP: Ice may be to blame for serious wreck

emergency

MAYSVILLE, Mo. - The Missouri State Highway Patrol says a man is in serious condition after a single-vehicle wreck in Dekalb County.

The Patrol says Derik Buckles, of Weatherby, 33, wrecked on Route W, three miles north of Maysville at 7:35 a.m. Monday, Jan. 17.

Authorities say that Buckles was driving a 2009 Dodge 1500 that hit a patch of ice and drove off the north side of the road and overturned onto the passenger side, colliding with the ditch.

Buckles, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was transported by Lifenet to Mosaic Life Care in St. Joseph with serious injuries.
