The Iowa Department of Natural Resources' popular "Trees For Kids" grant program is currently accepting applications and time is running out.
The grant helps cover the cost of planting trees, awarding up to 2,500 dollars. A requirement for the grant is that the trees be planted on public property. Gabriele Edwards, Urban Forestry Program Specialist with the Iowa DNR, explains the other requirement--youth involvement.
