DES MOINES, Iowa - The Iowa Department of Natural Resources now has grants available for planting trees through the Community Forestry Grant Program.
With funds from the USDA Forest Service, the Iowa DNR has $50,000 available in the 84 Iowa counties with confirmed Emerald Ash Borer, including some in our KXCV/KRNW listening area.
Emma Hanigan, Urban and Community Forester with the Iowa DNR, says the grant program provides a dollar-for-dollar match for purchases of trees and materials, in amounts from $500 to $5,000, and trees must be planted on public land.
