DES MOINES, Iowa - The Iowa Department of Natural Resources is continuing to monitor the recent spread of bird flu in the state, keeping a close eye on its spread in wild bird populations.
State wildlife veterinarian with the Iowa DNR Rachel Ruden says that they have handled bird flu before, but...
Ruden says that seeing one dead bird is not cause for alarm, but five or more within a week should be reported to the DNR.
The DNR also advises that people not handle sick or dead birds to avoid unintentionally spreading the disease. For more information on bird flu, or to report dead birds, visit iowadnr.gov.
