JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - With spring around the corner, the Missouri Department of Conservation is reminding Missouri residents not to interfere with wild animals and their young if they are found.
News Service Coordinator with the MDC Jill Pritchard says that young animals are rarely abandoned even if they appear so.
Instead, Pritchard recommends if an animal is suspected of being injured that residents get in contact with their local conservation agent to report the sighting.
She also says that residents are encouraged not to handle the wildlife, as wild animals can harbor diseases, mites, and other parasites. For more information you can visit mdc.mo.gov.
