ST. JOSEPH, Mo. - The Missouri State Highway Patrol says a 57-year-old man is in serious condition after being struck by a vehicle in Buchanan County.
The Patrol says John Cheatham, of Leavenworth, Kan. was driving a 2006 Chevy Silverado on I-29, just a mile south of St. Joseph.
At 8:50 a.m. Wednesday, the Chevy drove off the road and continued in the median. Cheatham jumped out of the Chevy into the passing lane of I-29, where he was struck by a vehicle that continued driving, despite hitting Cheatham.
No description of the vehicle was given. Cheatham was transported to Mosaic Life Care with serious injuries.
