MoDoT chimes in for National Work Zone Awareness Week

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - This week is National Work Zone Awareness Week and the Missouri Department of Transportation is urging drivers to help reverse a deadly trend.

MoDoT says last year there were 61 crashes with protective vehicles, as well as 17 work zone fatalities. Officials say this happens because drivers are distracted, and-or, driving too fast for the conditions.

That's why MoDoT hopes when you hit the road, you drive the speed limit, buckle up and put the phone down. You can also drive safer in the Show-Me state by visiting MoDoT's traveler information map at traveler.modot.org.
