Northwest Regent John Moore issues statements

MARYVILLE, Mo. - Northwest Missouri State University's Board of Regents could vote on an interim president early next week. That's according to an email exchange between Regent John Moore and KXCV.

In the email, Regent Moore says he expects the vote to happen next week, but adds that he wants to give all the Regents time to reflect on the views expressed by the public on April 12.

KXCV asked Regent Moore how the Board plans to regain the public's trust after this jumbled process and he said, "I will look for opportunities to change Board processes, where possible, to improve transparency."

When asked about why the Regents waited until now after allegedly knowing two years ago they wouldn't renew Jasinski's contract, Moore stated in another email with KXCV, "I interpreted conversations I had with Doctor J to indicate that it was in his interest for no vote to be taken or announcement made...I recognize that one of the tradeoffs associated with taking this tack was that we would need to have an interim president for a year."

No one on the Board of Regents has given a specific reason why Jasinski’s contract wasn’t renewed. The next Board of Regents meeting will be Wednesday, May 4, at 1 p.m. in the Student Union.
