JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - A grant program aimed at improving wildlife habitats and protecting water quality in Missouri is accepting applications.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Natural Resources Conservation Service is inviting farmers and other qualifying individuals to apply to receive funding through the Regional Conservation Partnership Program.
There are four projects available, with two in our listening area. In Sullivan and Putnam counties, the East Locust Creek Source Water Protection Project aims to prevent harmful runoff from entering the East Locust Creek Reservoir.
Also available is the Grassland Bird and Grazing Lands Enhancement Initiative, which includes most of our listening area in Missouri. Beth Baragary, Acting Coordinator for the RCPP, explains that projects goals.
RCPP participation is available to individuals and entities actively engaged in agricultural production. To be eligible for the current round of funding, applications are due by April 29.
