ST. JOSEPH, Mo. - One specialist is alerting growers about a potential problem months from now.
Field specialist in agronomy with the University of Missouri Extension Office Wayne Flanary says a mild winter has potentially created problems for corn growers.
Flanary says ammonia, once it's converted into nitrate form, can move with soil water. He adds that losses can occur during wet springs, especially during June.
