MDC: Squirrel and black bass season opens this weekend

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - The Missouri Department of Conservation reminds everyone that squirrel and black bass season opens this Saturday.

Allowed methods for squirrel hunting include legal firearm methods, as well as archery equipment, slingshots, and atlatls.

Squirrels may also be hunted with cage style traps as long as hunters have a valid Small Game Hunting permit. For black bass, anglers may catch-and-keep largemouth, smallmouth, and spotted or Kentucky bass.

In most waters the daily limit on bass is six, and fish taken must be one foot long. The MDC also notes that you can keep your permits on hand through the MDC mobile apps.

Users can keep their hunting and fishing permits on the apps, find nearby places to hunt or fish, check regulations, and more. Both seasons will run through Febuary of 2023.
