JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - The Missouri Department of Conservation has released final results on Chronic Wasting Disease from the 2021 deer season.
The MDC says it tested more than 32,000 deer, with 86 testing positive for CWD. The positive cases came from 18 counties, with Barry, Christian, Howell and Washington counties seeing their first detected cases.
Almost 19,000 of the tested deer were sampled as part of the MDC's mandatory sampling efforts in the CWD Management Zone.
Wildlife Health Program Supervisor with the MDC Jasmine Batten says that they will continue sampling efforts during the next deer season.
