ST. JOSEPH, Mo. - The Missouri State Highway Patrol says an Arkansas man is in serious condition after a wreck in Buchanan County.

The Patrol says 55-year-old Mark Cooper of Jefferson, Arkansas was driving a 2016 GMC 2500 on State Route 6 near Route Z, about four miles east of St. Joseph.

At 3:30 p.m. Thursday, the Patrol says Cooper failed to yield at a stop sign and pulled in front of a 2010 Chevy Traverse driven by 67-year-old Terry Debord of Clarksdale. The Chevy struck the rear of the GMC.

The GMC then overturned and caught fire. Cooper suffered serious injuries while Debord suffered moderate injuries. Both were wearing their seatbelts and both were taken to Mosaic Life Care in St. Joseph for treatment.
