DES MOINES, Iowa - Iowa's Gov. wants security upgrades at schools across the Hawkeye state.
At a Tuesday press conference, Gov. Kim Reynolds announced $100 million in school safety funding to prevent violence and mass shootings like the one seen at a Texas elementary school last month.
Reynolds says around $80 million will go towards helping school district conduct vulnerability assessments as well as establishing a security upgrade grant program.
Reynolds adds about $5.5 million will go to fully fund the Governor's School Safety Bureau through 2026.
