DES MOINES, Iowa - Boaters in one part of Iowa are urged to use caution due to the ongoing low water conditions along the Missouri river.

The water levels have been down between one and two feet all spring on Carter Lake in Pottawattamie County, but will decline more this summer.

Bryan Hayes, with the Iowa Department of Natural Resources, says that trying to predict when water levels will return to normal is difficult and that access to these lakes may be compromised this summer.

Other lakes have been affected in Monona, Harrison, and Woodbury Counties.
