DES MOINES, Iowa - Iowa officials say they're pleased with the outcome of the spring turkey hunting season.
Iowa's wild turkey hunted hunted nearly 12,000 birds through the mandatory registration system, an increase of about 300 over last year's total. Iowa's spring turkey seasons began April 8. Hunters purchased nearly 52,500 spring turkey tags.
While the hunting season may be over, Iowans can still help out the Iowa Department of Natural Resources by reporting all the turkeys seen during the months of July and August.
A link to that survey will be on the DNR's website on July 1.
