DES MOINES, Iowa - An operation will be underway this upcoming weekend in Iowa. Operation Dry Water starts July 2 with local law enforcement agencies focus on enforcing Iowa's boating laws.
Susan Stocker, boating law administrator and education coordinator for the Iowa DNR, urges boaters to wait until they are on land before consuming alcohol.
One-third of all boating fatalities nationally involved alcohol. Many of those victims were innocent bystanders.
