St. Joseph police officer and wife charged in scheme

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. - A St. Joseph police officer and his wife have been indicted by a federal grand jury in connection with a $99,000 wire fraud scheme.

According to a press release, Michael Hardin, 46, and Sarah Hardin, 42, have been charged in a seven-count indictment.

According to charging document, they used credit cards from a local lodge of the Fraternal Order of Police to make personal purchases.

Michael Hardin was president of the Fraternal Order of Police Northwest Missouri Lodge #3 for about 10 years while Sarah Hardin served as treasurer of the lodge for the same amount of time.

Sarah Hardin faces four counts of wire fraud while Michael Hardin faces three.
