Experts say invasive species spotted in NWMO

COLUMBIA, Mo. - As gardening season continues, experts urge you to be on the lookout for an invasive species that could be infecting your roses.

Horticulture specialist for the University of Missouri Dr. David Trinklein says rose rosette has been spotted in the KXCV/KRNWlistening area.

If you suspect it, you're asked to take a picture of the diseased plant and sending it to your county MU Extension Office.

To keep the infection from spreading, gardeners need to tear out the plant, including the roots and carefully place all the plant material into a bag and take it somewhere where it can be destroyed.
