The city of Trenton has decided it is time for another upgrade for their firefighters.
Recently the Trenton City Council approved an upgrade for breathing bottles, which are used for breathing within smoke. However, one upgrade lead to another, as the air compressor used to fill the breathing bottles was found to be unfit, and in need of a replacement.
City Administrator, Ron Urton, explained that the council decided it would be best to speed up the process by waiving the purchase policy. That allowed the council to skip advertising a bid for the specific specifications the compressor would need, and instead, purchase directly from a vendor.
