TRENTON, Mo. - The Trenton City Council has decided the city will be joining a newly created organization to help city firefighters.
The Missouri Firefighters critical illness pool uses funding around the state to helps firefighters pay for expenses to fight critical illnesses, such as cancer.
City Administrator Ron Urton explained that Trenton as a city would pay a premium into the pool, allowing their firefighters to access funds as much as $300,000, if they were to develop a critical illness.
If all goes as planned, the city would be able to join the pool as soon as Aug. 1.
