Blind Missourians weigh in on BRITE Act

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - Gov. Parson recently signed into law a bill that modifies provisions relating to elementary and secondary education. Included in this legislation is the Blind Students' Rights to Independence, Training and Education ACT.

The BRITE act, obligates elementary and secondary schools in Missouri to provide instruction and services to each blind student and makes it clear that none of these services may be denied

Public Relations Chair for the National Federation of the Blind of Missouri, Daniel Garcia says that only 10% of blind people actually know brail and hopes that the BRITE act can push schools to start teaching brail to their blind students.
