AMES, Iowa - With summer winding down, officials have some tips for maintaining ponds heading into fall.
Jason Euchner, aquatic vegetation biologist with the Iowa Department of Natural Resources, says aquatic plants can help with a healthy pond.
However, too many aquatic plants in a pond leads to upsetting the balance of the pond.
Recommended methods for keeping aquatic plants under control for the time of year are pond rakes, and pond clutters. For more information on aquatic plants visit iowadnr.gov/pondplants.
