DES MOINES, Iowa - Iowa pheasant hunters had an excellent season last year, harvesting the most roosters since 2008.
The Iowa Department of Natural Resources is conducting a survey this month to see what the fall season might have in store.
Upland Wildlife Biologist for the Iowa Department of Natural Resources Todd Bongenschutz says he has already been receiving reports from across southern and southwest Iowa.
In addition to pheasants and quails, the survey collects data on partridge, cottontails and jackrabbits. Results will be posted online at iowadnr.gov/pheasantsurvey.
