COLUMBIA, Mo. - The University of Missouri Extension Office is spreading the word for another option for consumers buying meat. That option is purchasing directly from the producer.
The MU Extension Office has created a new publication that offers guidelines for buying all or part of animals from livestock, then production, processing, and packaging of that meat.
Agricultural business specialist Jennifer Lutes says for those interested, the publication is free and available at mizzou.us/buyingmeat.
