DES MOINES, Iowa - Up to half a million dollars will be awarded to improve water quality and recreational opportunities on eligible on-stream impoundments throughout Iowa.
According to a press release from the Iowa DNR, funds will be awarded through a competitive grant program to fund restoration projects that aim to protect, maintain, and enhance popular recreation destinations and their related watersheds.
George Antoniou, the lake restoration program coordinator for the DNR, says the project should ensure a cost-effective investment for citizens of Iowa and improve overall water quality.
Information on how to apply is available online at iowadnr.gov/onstreamimpoundment. Applications are due Nov. 4.
