JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - During Suicide Prevention Month, the University of Missouri Extension Office reminds Missouri farmers and their families that they have resources for those in need.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reports that rural residents are at a higher risk of suicide than urban residents, and unfortunately these rural areas have a shortage of mental health professionals.

Because of this the MU Extension Office has opened up resources for rural farmers. One is a new AgriSafe Helpline, which is available to Missouri producers and rural family's, it is available 24/7 and just call or text 833-897-2474 for help.

Other resources include the MU Psychological Services Clinic which offers up to five free teletherapy sessions for farmers and ranches, more information available at muext.us/PSCFarmRanch
