JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - For the sixth year, the Missouri Department of Transportation, the Missouri Coalition for Roadway Safety, and various other safety partners, are encouraging better driving behaviors.
That's because tomorrow is Buckle Up Phone Down Day and this year the goal is to have zero traffic fatalities throughout Friday around the Show-Me state.
Missouri's 2022 Seat Belt Usage Survey showed 89% of drivers and passengers use seat belts, matching the highest rate the state ever recorded.
But officials worry as cellphone usage continues to be a contributing factor to distracted driving fatalities.
