DES MOINES, Iowa - Sometimes history repeats itself, and this is true when it comes to Iowa's pheasant season this year.
Todd Bogenschutz, Iowa Department of Natural Resources upland wildlife biologist, says the pheasant population is similar as last year and hunters are optimistic for a good hunting year.
Bogenshutz adds that there was a small increase last year in pheasant hunters and expects a similar increase this year.
Pheasant season started over the weekend and ends Jan. 10 with shooting hours between 8 a.m and 4:30 p.m.
