Iowa DNR recommends "ABCs of Tree Stand Safety"


With bow season now in full swing, the Iowa Department of Natural Resources wants hunters to stay safe and avoid injury.

Incidents involving tree stands can lead to injury, or even death so hunters are encouraged to remember the "ABCs of Tree Stand Safety."

A- Always remove and inspect your equipment

B - Buckle your full body harness

C - Connect to the tree fully before your feet leave the ground.

Officials also recommended that hunters keep their phones on their person rather than in their bag in case of emergency.
