JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - With increased wild animal movement this fall, it isn't uncommon for drivers in our area to see more dead deer and other animals along the nearly 34,000 miles of state roads.
Communications Manager with the Missouri Department of Transportation Martin Schwartz says that there are several options whenever there is a vehicle and deer collision resulting in the death of the animal.
Under Missouri law, it is legal for an individual who has struck and killed a deer with their car to claim the carcass, as long as they get written authorization to posses the deer by a Missouri Department of Conservation agent.
