MOUND CITY, Mo. - The Missouri State Highway Patrol says a teenager is dead after a three-vehicle wreck in Holt County.
The Patrol says Sarah Lockridge, 27, and two teenage boys, all from Cape Girardeau, were in a 2001 Honda Coupe on U.S. Interstate 29, two miles south of Mound City.
At 6:40 p.m. this past Sunday, the Honda was struck by a merging semi-truck, causing the Honda to travel into oncoming traffic and striking a 2006 Subaru Outback.
The Subaru stopped in the highway while the Honda continued off the road, skidding into a ditch and striking a tree. A 16-year-old boy in the Subaru died, while the other teenager, 13, suffered minor injuries.
Lockridge suffered serious injuries and was taken to Mosaic Life Care in St. Joseph. All parties involved were wearing seatbelts.
