Maryville woman seriously injured in crash involving deer

BARNARD, Mo. - The Missouri State Highway Patrol says a Maryville woman is in serious condition after the car she was in struck a deer on U.S. Highway 71 in Nodaway County. 

The Patrol says 68-year-old Kevin Rankin was driving a 2008 Nissan Rogue, with 63-year-old Deborah Rankin in the passenger seat.

At 7:30 p.m. Monday, the Patrol says the Nissan struck a deer about three miles northwest of Barnard. Deborah Rankin was taken to Mosaic in St. Joseph while Kevin Rankin suffered no injuries. Both were wearing their seatbelts.
