JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - Some deer hunters in our listening area will need to submit the deer they hunt to the Missouri Department of Conservation for mandatory Chronic Wasting Disease sampling.
It will happen during opening weekend, Nov. 12-13. Deer hunters in Linn, Mercer, Putnam, and Sullivan counties will have to take their deer to CWD mandatory sampling centers in the same county they were hunted.
Joe Jerek, spokesperson for the MDC, adds that voluntary sampling is available statewide throughout deer season.
