Maryville to host "Football is Back" Camp Saturday

Maryville High School will host a football camp for students of all ages.

Football practice started this week for Maryville High School with just helmets initially, but that all changes Saturday as the Spoofhounds don full pads for the first time in 2022.

The program is turning it into a fun day for the whole community.

Maryville High is hosting its first ever "Football is Back" Camp Saturday morning on the game field at the 'Hound Pound. The Spoofhound varsity team, junior varsity and freshman will run through drills and demonstrate plays for the youth players. Over 70 kids are already signed up, and head coach Matt Webb is expecting even more to register the day of the event with students from Pre-K up through seniors in high school.

"For the rest of the community and the kids to see our varsity do full-speed drills in full pads I think is something that's unique. Our guys enjoy working with youth camps and I think it's a day that should be celebrated.

Registration starts at 7:30am Saturday at the 'Hound Pound. The fee is just a donation of sports drinks, like Gatorade or Powerade, of any amount to the Maryville football program.
