ALBANY, Mo. - It was short and sweet at the latest Board of Alderman in Albany, but one thing was on their mind: marijuana.
The Board approved a marijuana sales tax election ordinance, which effectively calls for an election on April 4 during their normal municipal election date whether or not to impose a 3% sales tax on the sale of recreational marijuana.
Although the city of Albany does not have a dispensary currently, City Administrator Derek Brown says that the Board wanted to get this ordinance approved.
The next Board of Aldermen meeting is scheduled for Jan. 17.
