JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - Another deer hunting season is in the books and the Missouri Department of Conservation says a preliminary total deer harvest for the season shows an increase in hunting.
Nearly 300,000 deer were hunted during the deer season which just wrapped up this past Sunday. Of the deer killed, 140,736 were antlered bucks, 27,029 were button bucks, and 131,956 were does.
Hunters killed 295,143 deer during the 2021-22 deer hunting season. Deer hunting ended with the close of the archery season.
Preliminary data from MDC showed that hunters checked 56,525 deer during the 2022-23 archery deer season. For deer hunting summaries from past years, as well as other hunting seasons, visit mdc.mo.gov/hunting-trapping.
