ST. JOSEPH, Mo. - A 32-year-old St. Joseph man has been sentenced for making a bomb threat against the Social Security office in St. Joseph.
According to court documents, James Curtman will spend 18 months in federal prison without parole.
Federal prosecutors say during a phone appoint in June 2021, Curtman became frustrated with an employee and told the employee he would make a bomb and blow up the building.
Records show that this wasn't Curtman's first time issuing a threat over the phone. In August 2020, he was convicted of using abusive language when talking to a Department of Social Services in Rolla employee over the phone.
And in May 2017, he reportedly made a threat to blow up a U.S. Bank.
