OMAHA, Neb. - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers have provided an updated runoff forecast for the Missouri River Basin.
Despite a lot of rain and snow in the forecast across the Midwest, the basin continues to be below average and the Corps of Engineers expects that to continue into spring.
The Corps of Engineers add that while soil moisture has improved in some areas across the region, drought conditions still exist across most of the Missouri River Basin.
Navigation for the Missouri River is expected to be at minimum service for the first half of the 2023 season. The runoff forecast is based on current soil moisture conditions, plains snowpack, mountain snowpack, and long-term precipitation and temperature outlooks.
