JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - The Missouri Department of Conservation says that after testing more than 30,000 deer, from last July to this April, that 117 tested positive for Chronic Wasting Disease.

CWD is a fatal disease in white-tailed deer and other members of the deer family. Those 117 cases bring the total of CWD cases found through the entire state of Missouri to 409 since the first case was confirmed by MDC in early 2012.

To help slow the spread of CWD, through targeted culling 41 CWD positive deer were removed from localized areas where CWD has been found.

Of the deer tested, MDC found CWD positive deer in 23 counties. If you want to help in the fight against CWD, you can learn more about what you can do to at mdc.mo.gov/cwd.
