MARYVILLE, Mo. - The Maryville Public Library is gearing up for their latest event which will have a guest speaker.
Letha Marie Mowry will be at the adult program, "Getting Started in Genealogy," slated for 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 13, in the library's basement.
In 1970, Letha Marie was asked to write her family history for the Graham Historical Society. She started collecting information and became fascinated with doing other genealogy info for other families.
She eventually got a computer and started a genealogy database. Her one shelf of books grew to ten bookcases, and she added over half a million entries into her database.
Letha Marie moved to Maryville and joined the Nodaway County Genealogy Society. She was serving as its President when it disbanded.
You can register for the free event at the library front desk, or by giving us a call at 660-582-5281.
